Let's Get Engaged!

Ready to get engaged?! Okay, I'm not talking about actually getting hitched or running away on a weekend elope journey to Sin City. Although, that second option sounds like some good stories could come out of an adventure such as a Vegas destination wedding. However, I digress. What I'm referring to is simply an invitation for our readers to submit and express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions about the state of the expedite industry in its current form.

An engagement, of sorts.

As many of you, the readers of this fine site, are aware, the expedite world is always in a constant state of flux. Some of you are drivers just getting into expedite for the first time, others are seasoned veterans of the industry. Perhaps you're an owner operator of your own cargo van or straight truck, or maybe you're a fleet owner who doesn't drive, but provides opportunities for others.

In any case, you all surely have some comments, questions, or valuable input that can be dispensed and discussed through this medium. I want to hear what you have to say.

I'm Listening

Those who've had the pleasure of working with me in the past, specifically in a recruiting sense, would tell you that I was once considered the "Dr. Phil" of the recruiting department. Sure, my job was to recruit and bring in drivers and owner operators for the companies I worked for. But my personal goal was to make sure the folks I was speaking with understood that they had someone who was actually listening on the other end.

I have always taken pride in being a good listener, and that also extends itself into the realm of the written word. For those who are interested in engaging with myself, or the other writers and staff behind The Wire, we want to encourage your input. Your engagement.

You're the ones on the road doing the job day and night, taking time away from loved ones to provide a valuable service to our country and our communities. I'll admit, I've never spent time as a commercial truck driver. It's something that I personally extend my deepest gratitude to those of you who choose to live the expediter's life. But that doesn't mean I'm unable to understand where you all are coming from. And if it's something I don't understand, then I want to learn more so that I can better comprehend what it's like to sit in your seat.

What Do You Want to Talk About?

Tell us, we want to know! If you're willing to simply comment on any one of our newsletter articles, we'll be happy to read them and take what's being communicated into consideration. Maybe you have a lot to say, in which we want you to feel free and reach out to let us know what's on your mind.

Do you have ideas for a newsletter article, perhaps something that hasn't been touched on from a driver or owner operator's perspective? Send a letter to the editor, we'll dive into it and make sure voices are heard and expectations are met.

In a time when constructive communication in the world seems to be lacking, we can choose to be the ones who are the purveyors of positive discord.

Let's get engaged! Better yet, let's engage with each other. If there were phone lines at the ready, they'd be open. Still, much like Frasier Crane, I'm listening.

Until next time.
